It’s the most wonderful time of the year…
We’re in the midst of the holiday season which makes me excited, but also a bit panicked. Our busy schedules get even more packed and our budget is put to the test. Can you relate?
November was one of those months that felt long and short at the same time. You know the kind. It was good. It was productive. It was somewhat restful. It went by in a blink. Here’s a glimpse into my month.
3 things I’m excited about
- Setting up my PowerSheets and Simplified Planner for 2019: If you have yours, then you understand. I’m trying to hold off digging into my 2019 goal planner and life planner until we get a bit closer to the end of the year, but I don’t know how much longer I can wait! Not to be dramatic, but honestly these tools have transformed my life since I started using them. Guess it never hurts to be extra organized and prepared 😉
- Ending the year strong: This is my favorite time of the year. Excitement and joy are in the air and I soak it up! It’s also the time of the year where I tend to backslide on my healthy habits and wait until the new year to get back on track. Not this year! Rachel Hollis’ #Last90Days is helping me finish well.
- Rebranding for Flourish With Rach: Soon this little corner of the internet will have a new look — yay! I love the logo I have now done by my sweet, talented friend, but I have been wanting to do an update for a while. I want my site name and logo to be consistent. I’m constantly growing and evolving, so our look here will do the same.
Quote I’ve been meditating on
The more grateful I am, the more beauty I see.Mary Davis
I totally believe this. We find what we’re looking for. Since the beginning of October I have been doing a gratitude practice — each night I write down 10 things I’m grateful for. I try not to repeat things, so at first it was pretty easy. I did the obvious: health, my marriage, my family, my friends, etc. Now that I’ve been doing it a while, I have to think deeper and seek out things to be grateful for. I find them because I’m searching for them.
I find so much more joy in the little moments because I’m taking the time to acknowledge and appreciate them. Life is more beautiful when we’re grateful.
Who or what I’m adoring
Yall. If you aren’t using Ebates when you’re doing your online shopping, I’m sorry to say you’re seriously missing out! Ebates allows you to do your regular online shopping, but when you shop through Ebates, you can earn cash back that they pay out once a quarter to your Paypal. It’s so easy to use. Plus who doesn’t want to earn some extra money on the shopping they’re doing anyways!?
For my friends that aren’t using Ebates, lets fix that. Sign up for free here + you’ll get $10 bonus after your first purchase. Tons of stores participate, so be sure to do your Christmas shopping here! You’re welcome in advance <3
Favorite memory from November
Thanksgiving Day feels like an obvious choice, but it was extra sweet. We got to spend time with both families — my family and my in-laws. When I say it was a long day, I mean it was a loooonnnnng day. But absolutely worth it!
Last minute mimosas, laughter, catching up and sharing stories, delicious lunch spread at the Coopers. The older I get, the more I appreciate leftovers, especially ones coming from a Thanksgiving meal! My only regret: not taking more pie.
More food, loving on the little ones, games (rematches coming at Christmas, I’m sure), karaoke, seeing friends and family at the Torreses. Usually my husband’s family is out of town for Thanksgiving, so it was fun to be with them.
A good lesson I learned
If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.
Ask for the things you want! I have been working on using my voice more. Speaking up for myself and making sure I get the things I need. I understand we live in a world where we can’t always get what we want. But I also understand that nobody is reading my mind, so if I want something, I have to let that be known. If I don’t speak up and then it doesn’t happen, that’s on me. Asking doesn’t guarantee getting, but it tends to work out.
Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.Ralph Waldo Emerson
I’m saying no to: overemphasis on gifts.
I’m saying yes to: celebration.
