Is anyone else SO excited for May!?

I just love this month. Maybe it’s programmed into me from the many years of school and summer being right around the corner. At least here in North Carolina everything is back to life outside and the sun is out in full force. Just what my summer loving soul needed.

April was wonderful and had a ton of progress, so I’m entering this new month full of hope, excitement, and optimism. Good goals have been set in my PowerSheets. Lets do this, friend!

Monthly Action Items

  • Add $3,000 to savings: I’m so excited that we were able to go way above and beyond this goal by adding $6,000! Despite Eric’s traveling, we had awesome paychecks and responsibly set that money aside to go towards our future home. A shopping trip would have been fun, but saving feels so much better. YAY!
  • Represent M/I well: We had a few events in April and I wanted to put my best foot forward in representing the company I work for and connecting with others that were there. The events went well and we’ve got more this month!
  • 4 sales: It came down to the very last day of the month, but we did it! When April started I wasn’t sure where these sales would even come from. But the right people showed up and shortly they’ll all be in their beautiful new homes.
  • Hair attention — cut & style regularly: This is another one of those goals that feels silly, but I need it. I’d honestly rather sleep in than take time to do my hair, but I feel and look better when it’s done so I want to be better about putting the effort in. A fresh cut + color definitely helps my motivation!
  • Enjoy weekend with Hillary: It was so much fun to have a girlfriend in town! Eric was out of the country visiting family, so it was perfect timing for a girl’s weekend. She took an OrangeTheory class with me, we ate a lot of yummy food, enjoyed mimosas and margaritas. It was wonderful! It’s so important to invest time in friendships.
  • Plan April-June blog posts: Done! What I have planned may change as I think of new ideas, but I’m happy to have at least a game plan in place. Is there anything you’d love to see!? Let me know in the comments below. I love your ideas!
  • Digital Declutter: Like decluttering physical space, but digitally. I decluttered my phone, my work computer, and my personal computer. They definitely needed it! We spend a lot of time in our digital worlds and clutter there definitely affects us. I’ll leave a checklist I created below so you can use and tweak if you’d like to declutter your digital spaces.
  • Learn about Pinterest for blog growth: I’ve had this on my tending list forever and finally dug in! There’s still more to learn, of course, but I’ve made good progress for now and will implement some of the tips.

Yall, it’s totally okay to cross off and cancel a goal. I thought it’d be a great time to do the Ruthless Declutter Challenge as my mindset is already in moving mode (though we won’t be moving for months, until our home is built). But we’re also still so far out and I have other more important things on my plate. So off it goes.

Aint no shame in adjusting your goals, even if the month has already started. Nothing is set in stone. If it’s not working, let it go. Maybe there will be a better time later. Maybe it’s just not a good fit for you. Life is too short to hold onto things that aren’t serving us.

I love making lists! To-do lists and planners are my jam. I was struggling with getting everything done on my list (even if the list was short) because I wasn’t using my time well after work. I was just vegging out once I got home, which is fine, but I wasn’t prioritizing the most important things first.

So now my first order of business is what’s on my priority list and then whatever I want to do after. It’s been a simple adjustment that makes me feel more productive. I’m completing what I set out to do and not continuing to push things off. And then the quicker I get it done, the faster I can watch the next New Girl episode – win, win! It’s okay to bribe yourself 😉

I’m so inspired by May’s “encouraging words.” Do less, but better. I actually borrowed it from another Cultivator’s PowerSheets because it felt like it fit perfectly. We don’t have to do all the things. And we shouldn’t. We can do our things well by doing less.

This month I challenge you to take some things off your plate to make room for your best. How will you use your extra time, energy, and resources?
